Ember currently works as a project manager for developing environmental careers, networks, and institutional diversity at the University of Michigan School for Environment & Sustainability (SEAS) for the Environmental Fellows Program and the Doris Duke Conservation Scholars Program. Prior to joining the staff at SEAS, she earned a Master's Degree from the school while specializing in Environmental Justice and Science & Technology Public Policy. In particular, her Master's thesis examined historical social inequalities in the spatial distribution of coal-fired power plants. Outside of class, Ember served as the SEAS Student Body President and collaborated on community engagement initiatives related to air pollution in Southwest Detroit (zip code 48217), the Flint Water Crisis and Research for the Public Good. Her professional interests include environmental health & energy justice, diversity & inclusion, and equitable policymaking.
