Growing up in Chicago, Chigozie's main exposure to the environment came from watching Nature documentaries on PBS. As he watched videos about wildlife in Serengeti, he became more and more interested in learning more about the interactions between humans and wildlife. In the summers of 2014 and 2015, he participated in the DDCSP at the University of Washington, where he solidified his interest in a career working on environmental issues. In 2017, Chigozie graduated from Knox College with a B.A. in Economics and Anthropology/Sociology, focusing on conservation. Currently, Chigozie is concurrently pursuing a graduate degree in Environmental Justice and Public Policy from the University of Michigan.
