Alán is from the US-México borderlands, near Reynosa Tamaulipas and McAllen, TX. He currently teaches World History AP at PSJA Memorial ECHS as a Teach For America Corps Member. He's proud to have returned home after his undergrad at Yale University. In college, Alán majored in Environmental Studies w/ a focus on Environmental Justice and developed interests in labor history, historical memory, critical theory, and film among others. He is a also a graduate student at the University of Texas - Rio Grande Valley, where he is pursuing a MA in Mexican American Latinx Studies. He plans to research the labor and political struggles of South Texas Farmworkers.
